KENNY CHESNEY ANNOUNCES HIS FLIP FLOP SUMMER 2007 TOUR'
Chesney to Play Six NFL Stadium Shows
Tour to Wrap at Detroit’s Ford Field in August
Detroit, MI – Kenny Chesney is kicking off the New Year by announcing his six-stadium ‘Flip Flop Summer 2007 Tour’ Presented by Cruzan Rum, that will begin in Pittsburgh at Heinz Field and wrap at Detroit’s Ford Field on August 18, 2007.
Chesney will return to Ford Field this summer, following a hugely successful ‘The Road & The Radio Tour’ show at the stadium last August, which was noted as Detroit’s highest grossing concert of the 2006 season and the second-highest grossing date of the tour. ‘The Road & The Radio Tour’ was also the most attended North American tour of 2006. Chesney-mania was in full swing at Ford Field in 2006, and nothing less is expected for the ‘Flip Flop Summer 2007 Tour’ this August.
Chesney’s ‘Flip Flop Summer 2007 Tour’ will feature an all-star lineup including Three-Time Entertainers of the Year Brooks & Dunn, triple platinum country sensation Sugarland, Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist Sara Evans and triple Grammy nominee Pat Green.
The Ford Field show on August 18 will begin at 4:30 p.m., with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. Tickets will be available to the public beginning February 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 248.645.6666. Additional information is available at www.fordfield.com.
“There is a whole other kind of energy, other kind of dynamic. We’re talking the firepower of one of country music’s most hardcore, hard-rocking duos,” Chesney, the reigning Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year says of his stadium shows. “All the acts really… it’s a pretty intense lineup, in what we’ve found to be a very exciting place to do concerts!”
Chesney will bring his Flip Flop Tour to Heinz Field, Home of the Pittsburgh Steelers on June 9, Lincoln Financial Field, Home of the Philadelphia Eagles on June 23, Qwest Field, Home of the Seattle Seahawks on July 7, Paul Brown Stadium, Home of the Cleveland Browns on July 14, Gillette Stadium, Home of the New England Patriots on July 28, and Ford Field, Home of the Detroit Lions on August 18. Tickets go on sale for all stadium dates on February 10 with the exception of Philadelphia (March 3) and Seattle (March 10).
Given the response from fans at the 2006 The Road & The Radio Tour, the all-day stadium shows are a once-in-a-summer experience. “There’s nothing like it,” Chesney says. “You know, getting all those people together for a little party… they start tailgating, cooking out early, and then we rock straight through the night. Anyone who’s ever been knows it’s a helluva good time.”
Having sold out many of his shows in advance the past two years, sales are anticipated to be so brisk that some markets are adding extra operators to handle demand. This year’s new stadium markets are Cleveland and Philadelphia, traditionally strong markets for the man who spent six weeks at #1 last year with “Summertime” from his well-past triple platinum The Road & The Radio album.
As the season heats up and rehearsals for the Flip Flop Summer kick into gear, the man who spends his time Living in Fast Forward is gearing up for his biggest year ever. “We’ve got a few surprises, some new tricks, a few different songs – and we’re gonna be making it the summer of our lives. Hopefully, the fans’ll be out there raising Hell and having a good time with us… because we believe, and we always have, the more the merrier with shows like this.”
