Traffic Jam Worth It For Chesney Fans PARKWAY EAST CLOSURE INFO: Details | Detours PennDOT Alert | Traffic Cameras | Traffic Alerts (KDKA) PITTSBURGH It’s slow going today on the roadways as thousands of travelers steer around the Parkway East closure.
The traffic jam started earlier today as fans started heading out in droves to Heinz Field for tonight’s Kenny Chesney concert making traffic on the North Shore a nightmare.
According to the latest traffic reports, vehicles are backed up all along I-279 on the Parkway West and Parkway North.
But Kenny Chesney fans say waiting in the traffic back-up is well worth it to get to the concert.
“We don’t like the traffic, but we know what’s on the other end is going to be worth it,” said Liz Auher, who got stuck in the traffic jam this afternoon. "We’re coming from Erie and Franklin so we’ve been driving for a while.”
Another fan who had been waiting in traffic for about a half hour said she just wanted to get to the concert.
“All I want to do is get to the Kenny Chesney concert and tailgate,” Lauren McElroy said. “We thought we were coming early enough, but I guess not.”
And one devoted fan was indifferent to the traffic.
“Who cares about the traffic,” he said. “It’s Kenny Chesney! It’s worth it.”
