Sugarland is enjoying their run with Kenny Chesney on his current Flip Flop Summer tour. Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush tell icebergradio.com they're soaking up all they can learn from the superstar's performances, which is no small task.
"Kenny is taking the legend of arena performance that started in the 80s — or at least that's when I was old enough to get in — and he's taking it where it progressively is supposed to go," Kristian says. "It's a huge performance, but it feels like he's performing just for you, and I don't know how he does it. Jen does it, too. It's just an interesting thing to watch, and now he's taken on stadiums, because the arenas weren't big enough."
"He loves to put on a good show and he knows that's what it's about," Jennifer says. "He told us something last year. He said, 'You know, I'd had No. 1 hits and I had sold a bunch of records and everybody looked at me and said, "Oh, isn't it great.' I looked at my tickets that I sold and said, 'It doesn't mean anything if I can't put butts in that seat,' and he was right. He's definitely putting them in there now."
