Kenny reflects on the early days...
Superstardom has been a slow build for Kenny Chesney, who came to Nashville to pursue a music career back in the early 1990s, but when success did come, the impact was huge.
"Man, when our life changed, it was unbelievable...the feeling of a new bus," he tells Dial-Global. "When I got my second bus, it was one of the best things in the world. I couldn't wait to get a second bus so me and my road manager and my merchant guys could ride on that thing. But it was like, 'Where are all my buddies at?'"
Kenny admits it's nice not to have to smell dirty socks and listen to snoring all night but says he misses the camaraderie. "Gosh, we laughed a lot. I've got video footage from years back when we were all on one bus, and there was one common denominator and that was laughter, and that was amazing. One of these days, if I can get everybody to sign a release, I'm gonna put out a DVD of those early days. It's some really good TV, I promise you."
Kenny's "Flip Flop Summer Tour" is about to sell out yet another NFL football stadium. As of yesterday, only 50 tickets remained for the August 18 show at Detroit's Ford Field.
"People must really be ready for summer to come!," says Kenny. "We all need to get away, and if you can't get to the islands, then get to somewhere people want to help you have a good time. If there's one thing I believe in, it's this: give people a good time, and everybody feels better. It sure works for me."
